At the first of this month, my husband and I purchased a pair of houses that are nestled together: an old 1909 Farmhouse and a more recent home in the back. The old house will be my new studio gallery (yay!), and the newer building will house my husband’s business. I am very excited about having such an awesome space in which to work. So much space and so much character! And because it is right off the two-lane highway that runs through my valley, I will be open for business. Though I’m not sure when. I think it’s pretty obvious from the pictures that I have a lot of work to do. And I have a lot of work I will need to pay someone else to do.

the view from the parking lot (complete with cute thirteen-year-old boy)
the front room
the hearth room (this is where I will be making cool art!)
azaleas on my mantel
the secret stairway that goes to….
the writing room (with heart pine bead board that glows when the afternoon sun comes in)

the candle weather vane
At I took a lot of “before” pictures (you can see the whole album on flickr) so we can have a nice record of the changes we will be making. Right now I am concentrating on the Hearth Room, which is where I will be working. I’m peeling paint off plaster walls and in general just getting it ready for fresh paint. Once that room is done I’ll start moving over my easel, my pastels, and all my supplies! Somedays I get a little frustrated that all the work isn’t done yet. I want to be working there NOW!
