This is mine and my husband’s new business!  We’ve been working on this since February or so.  He did the technical stuff, and I’ve designed the ads and the website.  While I hesitated to post this here, the truth is that this we offer a great service!  If you have high-speed internet you can replace your landline service with ours, and never have a long distance bill again.   All you pay is a monthly fee of $24 plus a few inescapable taxes.   There’s even a $14 plan.  Lingo and Vonage are the big guys in this business, and we’re the little guys, but we’re way cooler, I promise.

I was really excited to read this on President-Elect Obama’s website (thanks to cottonmanifesto  for posting this in her journal):

Deploy Next-Generation Broadband: Barack Obama believes that America should lead the world in broadband penetration and Internet access. As a country, we have ensured that every American has access to telephone service and electricity, regardless of economic status, and Obama will do likewise for broadband Internet access. Obama and Biden believe we can get true broadband to every community in America through a combination of reform of the Universal Service Fund, better use of the nation’s wireless spectrum, promotion of next-generation facilities, technologies and applications, and new tax and loan incentives.

What’s really cool is that soon cell phones and, by and large, landlines, will be obsolete.  There are already wi-fi phones out there that look just like cell phones, only they use wi-fi hot-spots to transmit their signals instead of cell towers.  My hubbie and I have one!

Another thing that really is cool is that we are a socially responsible company.  We are all about giving back–10% of your bill to the non-profit of your  choice.  What other phone company does that?

And now, back to our regular programming…

our new business! — 2 Comments

  1. I can’t do much here, beyond wish you good luck, but every good wish for success, this sounds like a wonderful idea!

  2. Thanks! I’m not really the entrepreneur, my husband is, but I think our partnership is what makes it possible, if that makes any sense.
